The Project

HerculaneProject is a platform for architectural and social reactivation of the historic centre of Herculane baths through architecture, culture and education. In the long term, the aim of the project is to include the architectural ensemble as a historical monument in the UNESCO heritage.

The Project

Our successes

What we have achieved together in three years of activity!

Mass-media

  • € 60,000 raised from civil society and sponsors. 40,000 were donated in 3 weeks.
  • 28,712 followers on Facebook and 8,990 on Instagram.
  • Over 200 media appearances in national and international media.
  • One appearance on the BBC.

Projects

  • Two cultural events developed within the project.
  • Four editions of the summer school have been successfully implemented.
  • Four cultural events co-organized in Herculane Baths.
  • Two media and fundraising campaigns.
  • Reactivation of Neptune Baths – study of the building, development of technical and economic details, project authorization.
  • A marketing campaign #IGotMarked funded by KAUFLAND Romania.

Sponsors, Partners and Fundraising

  • Three projects approved for funding from the Order of Architects Romania and the Prince’s Foundation.
  • We coagulated 3 main sponsors and 8 official partners.
  • We raised 60,000 euros for a monument of national interest – Neptune Baths.

** In the first year and a half, all projects and project initiatives were implemented with 0 funding.

The team, friends and collaborators

  • Our NGO has 24 members
  • Over 40 volunteers
  • Over 25 specialists involved
  • Over 50 friends of the project, who advise us and connect us with different actors
  • Over 2500 individual donors

Landscape / heritage interventions

  • Complete studies on the degradations, archive studies of the monument.
  • A technical project developed to intervene and save the Băile Neptun, a monument of national interest, which has a universal value.
  • An emergency intervention.
  • Two competitions for students for urban insertions in the historical landscape of Băile Herculane.
  • Two pavilions executed by volunteers.
  • A complete urban study of the historic center of the city, which will be used as a basis for an Intervention Guide that we will donate to the state and private investors.

Project presentations

  • Two presentations in Vienna at the invitation of ICOMOS Austria.
  • A presentation in Italy, at the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering in Trento.
  • A presentation of the project within BATRA: Transylvania Architecture Biennial.
  • Presentations and participations within Cities Of Tomorrow, Evenings D’arc, NVJ: See you on Thursday, National Symposium Arch over Time Băile Herculane, Herculane Climbing Open, Faculty of Architecture from Timișoara.
