The Project

HerculaneProject is a platform for architectural and social reactivation of the historic centre of Herculane baths through architecture, culture and education. In the long term, the aim of the project is to include the architectural ensemble as a historical monument in the UNESCO heritage.

The Project

Who are we?

Our successes

What we have achieved together in 5 years of activity!

 

Mass-media

  • € 90,000 raised from civil society and sponsors. 40,000 were donated in 3 weeks.
  • 29,794 followers on Facebook and 9,121 on Instagram.
  • Over 200 media appearances in national and international media
  • Over 10 video testimonials with 12 cultural personalities who support the development of the project and the cultural heritage of the Herculaneum Baths.

Projects

  • Inclusion of Neptune Baths on the list of the 7 Most Endangered Heritage Sites in Europe in 2022
  • Two cultural events developed within the project.
  • Four editions of the summer school have been successfully implemented. The fifth is now in the works.
  • Four cultural events co-organized in Herculaneum
  • Two media and fundraising campaigns.
  • Realization of the #IGotmarked project, financed by Kaufland Romania.
  • Reactivation of Neptune Baths – study of the building, development of technical and economic details, project authorization.

Sponsors, Partners and Fundraising

  • Four projects approved for funding by the Romanian Order of Architects and the Prince’s Foundation
  • We coagulated over 20 main sponsors and 8 official partners
  • We raised 90,000 euros for a monument of national interest – Neptune Baths

** In the first year and a half, all projects and project initiatives were implemented with 0 funding.

The team, friends and collaborators

  • Our NGO has 24 members
  • Over 40 volunteers
  • Over 25 specialists involved
  • Over 50 friends of the project, who advise us and connect us with different actors
  • Over 2,500 individual donors

Landscape / heritage interventions

  • Complete studies on degradation, archive studies of the monument
  • A technical project developed to intervene and save the Baile Neptun, a monument of national interest, which has a universal value
  • An emergency intervention in 2019
  • Maintenance and upkeep works 2020/2021
  • A facade protection scaffolding in 2022
  • Two competitions for students for urban insertions in the historical landscape of Băile Herculane
  • Two pavilions executed by volunteers
  • A comprehensive urban study of the historic center of the city, which will be used as a basis for an Intervention Guide that we will donate to the state and private investors
  • Execution of a pedestrian protection scaffolding along the entire length of the Neptune Baths building.

  • A presentation in Italy, at the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering in Trento
  • A presentation of the project within BATRA: Transylvania Architecture Biennale
